"We will present the award at a later date, as our award ceremony, originally planned for next week, unfortunately had to be cancelled," said Roland Bischof, President of the non-profit association German Football Ambassador.

Robin Gosens, who is now succeeding last year's winner Marc-André ter Stegen, was delighted with the result: "I am tremendously happy about this award and see it as a reward for the development I have made, especially this season.
This award is very special to me and makes me very proud because it is an award that is only chosen by the public. If you then prevail against such renowned colleagues, it might mean that some people consider me to be cool and appreciate how I present myself as a person and what I achieve on the pitch. That is why I see the award as motivation to continue on the same path. Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me; it means so much to me.”
